GUDBOIS.

An emerging eSports team

GUDBOIS is an eSports team that competes in various eSports videogames. The name is a play on “Good Boi", which is a coin termed by the internet dog community referring to any animal or thing that is good just for the sake of being good and can be used regardless of age, gender, race, etc. The objective is to create an effective brand and execute fun, fresh deliverables.

Avoiding aggressive mascots

eSports is notorious for having aggressive and overly detailed mascots, and GUDBOIS wants to divert from that direction and instead present a friendly, laidback vibe, which are all great ways to describe the team. Going for a minimalistic mascot style makes the brand easily recognizable, and resorting to a simple color palette makes printing costs affordable for merchandise.

LOGO PROCESS

The initial sketch first showed a smug-looking dog with a collar, but I was left unsatisfied with that look, so along the way, a lot of revisions took place until I decided to settle for a more friendly expression and replaced the collar with a bandana. I opted for a simple, light navy blue gradient, as harsh colors do not match the intended tone.
